Though we choose to follow a completely vegetarian diet at Chakra 17, and know this to be the diet best suited to our personal constitutions, we understand that each and every individual who steps through our doors needs and desires different foods in order to thrive.
That being said, we do believe that ALL people can benefit from eating a mostly vegetarian diet. As visionary author Michael Pollan writes in his revolutionary book, In Defense of Food:

“Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants.”

Furthermore, it is absolutely essential to consume only those foods which are actually foods, meaning: whole, unrefined foods, preferably local, seasonal and organic. Processed foods are just that, processed, and often filled with additives entirely unknown to the human body throughout our billions year evolution upon Mother Earth.
A healthy human body, maintains a blood pH level that is slightly alkaline. When one’s body moves out of the narrow range of healthy alkalinity, either becoming too alkaline, or, far more likely in our culture, too acidic, a whole host of disease symptoms begin to present themselves.
The average American eats a diet mostly composed of highly acidifying foods (meats, pasteurized dairy products, refined carbohydrates, etc.) with very little alkalizing foods (fresh vegetables and raw fruits). In order for the human body to thrive, most people need to drastically increase the amount of fresh, raw or cooked vegetables, and raw, ripe, seasonal fruits and other highly alkalizing foods.
We encourage all our clients to take a discerning look at what they are eating, where it comes from, how it is made, and the effect it is having in their body... And, of course, we are more than happy, always, to discuss nutrition, our own personal diets and anything else as it relates to food throughout the duration of your session.http://www.michaelpollan.comhttp://michaelpollan.com/books/in-defense-of-food/shapeimage_2_link_0shapeimage_2_link_1
